Steve Kelley has been elected Chair-elect of the Core Metadata & Collections Section for 2022-23. He will become Chair of the Section in July 2023 and continue as Past Chair for one year starting July 2024. Kelley is the the Head of Continuing Resources and Database Management at the Z. Smith Reynolds Library at Wake Forest University, where he has worked since 2002.
Kelley was elected with 75% of the vote from Section members in an election that ran June 13 - July 10. When notified of his election, he responded, "I’m very honored to be the first Chair-Elect of the Core Metadata and Collections Section to be elected by the membership. I will do my best to help the section thrive and become an integral part of the division."
Kelley was the last person elected as Vice Chair/Chair-elect of the ALCTS Continuing Resources Section in 2019. In 2020, he was appointed to the leadership team of the Core Metadata and Collections Section, on which I currently serves. I have worked on a number of ALA committees, including CC:DA, the Continuing Resources Cataloging Committee, and many of the technical services related award committees.
Core also thanks Mary Gilbertson for running for Chair-elect. Gilbertson is the Head of Acquisitions at the University of Arkansas, and she has 24 years of professional academic library experience serving primarily in programs that support discovery and access to content and collections. She will serve as a member of the Metadata & Collections Section Leadership Team through June 2024.
