Library 02

American Library Association issued the following announcement on May 13.

Lindsey Kimery, Coordinator of Library Services for Metro Nashville (Tennessee) Public Schools, has been elected 2023-2024 chair of the American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) Supervisors Section (ISS).

“AASL serves as a guiding light for our profession as we navigate challenges and change,” said Kimery. “It’s also a place we celebrate the work we do for our students and school communities. I’ve grown as a school library advocate and leader because of the opportunities I’ve had through AASL. Connecting with AASL empowers school librarians to become stronger leaders, instructional partners, information specialists, teachers, and program administrators. Students ultimately benefit from your growth as a school librarian through participation in AASL. I look forward to collaborating with school librarians across the nation as chair of the Supervisor’s Section.”

Kimery is a member of AASL and the ALA Library Instruction and Intellectual Freedom Roundtables. She is currently the chair of the AASL Chapters Assembly. She is an active volunteer leader for the Tennessee Association of School Librarians where she has served as president, conference chair, and Library Legislative Day chair.

“AASL will be well guided by these phenomenal leaders,” said AASL Immediate Past President Kathy Carroll. “I want to thank them again for making the commitment to serve their national association in this capacity. It is only with talented, dedicated volunteer leaders that we can continue to move the association, and the profession, forward.”
