The University of Utah women’s tennis team will travel to Texas this week to compete against the TCU Horned Frogs and Baylor Bears in Big 12 conference play, according to an April 1 announcement.

These matches are significant as Utah, ranked No. 30 nationally, holds a season record of 14-5 and is currently 7-2 in Big 12 action. The outcomes could impact their standing within the conference as they approach the end of regular season play.

Utah will first meet No. 22-ranked TCU on Thursday, April 2 in Fort Worth. TCU enters the match with a record of 15-2 overall and is led by head coach Lee Taylor Walker. The Horned Frogs feature one Top-100 singles player, Raquel Caballero Chica (No.78), and have seen success from doubles teams Yu-Chin Tsai/Victoria Gomez O’Hayon and Tomi Main/Cayetana Gay, both with a current record of seven wins and two losses as pairs.

On Saturday, April 4, Utah will face No.38-ranked Baylor in Waco. The Bears recently secured a win over San Diego and are coached by Joey Scrivano, who is now in his twenty-fourth season at Baylor. Key players include junior Zuzanna Kubacha (12-3 singles) and senior Na Dong (No.48 ITA ranking), who has lost only twice this season.

Utah’s roster includes seniors Dylan Lolofie, Kaila Barksdale, Emma Valletta; juniors Sara Akid and Emma Kamper; sophomore Hayley Roberts; transfers Emmie Moore and Kamea Medora; plus freshmen Andjelija Markovic and Hailey Kerker. In their most recent match against Kansas State on Saturday afternoon, Utah extended its home undefeated streak with a decisive win that included doubles victories from Kamper/Moore as well as Akid/Valletta.

Head coach Ruth Ann Allen joined the program this past season after leading Weber State to a Big Sky Championship in 2023 and earning two Coach of the Year honors there. Allen previously spent two decades assisting at Utah before her Hall of Fame induction last year.

The Utes remain on a six-match winning streak at home heading into these final road contests before concluding their regular season with home games against Arizona on April 9 and Arizona State on April 11.
