The University of Utah women’s tennis team lost 4-0 to No. 11-ranked Arizona State on Senior Day, according to an April 11 announcement.

The match was important as it marked the last home event for Utah’s seniors and set the stage for their upcoming participation in the Big 12 Tournament.

Utah started strong in doubles, with Kaila Barksdale and Emmie Moore winning their match at the No.3 spot with a decisive 6-0 score against Zlata Bartanusz and Sarang Lim from Arizona State. However, Arizona State responded by securing victories at both the No.1 and No.2 doubles positions, earning them the opening point of the match.

In singles play, Arizona State clinched quick wins at positions two, four, and five to secure the overall victory. Several matches were left unfinished as a result of ASU reaching four points first: Dylan Lolofie was leading after her first set but trailed in her second; Kaila Barksdale had split sets with Lily Taylor; Sara Akid had forced a third set against Sara Svetac before play was halted.

With this loss behind them, Utah now looks ahead to competing in the Big 12 Tournament in Orlando, Florida.
