The Utah women’s tennis team earned a 4-2 victory against the Colorado Buffaloes on March 21, continuing their winning streak in Big 12 play.
This result brings Utah’s overall record to 12-5 and improves their conference standing to 5-2. The Utes have now won six consecutive matches, demonstrating strong form as the season progresses.
In doubles play, Emma Valletta and Sara Akid claimed a 6-3 win at the No. 1 spot, while Emmie Moore and Emma Kamper secured the doubles point with another 6-3 victory at No. 2. The third doubles match was left unfinished with Dylan Lolofie and Kamea Medora leading.
During singles competition, Emmie Moore started off with a straight-set win at No. 3, followed by Kaila Barksdale’s two-set victory at No. 4 to give Utah a commanding lead. Colorado responded by taking points at the top two singles spots. However, Valletta clinched the overall match for Utah after a three-set battle at No. 5. Hayley Roberts’ match at No. 6 was left unfinished in the third set.
The Utes are scheduled to return home to Salt Lake City for upcoming matches against Kansas State on March 26 and Oklahoma State on March 28.
