The Utah women’s tennis team defeated the Cincinnati Bearcats 4-1 at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center on Mar. 14, keeping their undefeated home record intact.

This win brings Utah’s season record to 10-5 overall and 3-2 in Big 12 conference play. The Utes have now won all eight of their home matches this season.

In doubles play, Emma Kamper and Emmie Moore secured a victory for Utah at the No. 2 spot, but Cincinnati claimed wins on courts No. 1 and No. 3 to take the doubles point. Despite trailing after doubles, Utah responded strongly in singles competition by winning four consecutive matches.

Kamper earned Utah’s first point with a straight-set win over Rozalia Gruszczynska at the top singles position. Emma Valletta followed with a victory against Tara Kurepa at No. 5 singles, while Moore added another point by defeating Sakurako Watanabe on court three. Sara Akid clinched the match for Utah with her win over Gabrielle Guenther.

The remaining singles matches were left unfinished as Utah had already secured enough points for the overall victory.

Looking ahead, the Utes will travel to Lubbock, Texas to face Texas Tech on Mar. 19 before heading to Boulder, Colorado for a match against Colorado on Mar. 21. They are scheduled to return home on Mar. 26 to host Oklahoma State.
