The Utah Utes will face the Brigham Young University Cougars in a non-conference baseball game at America First Ballpark in Salt Lake City on March 24. The matchup, set for a 6 p.m. start, comes as Utah returns home following a three-game series against Cincinnati.
This event is significant for local college baseball fans as it features an in-state rivalry and provides both teams with an opportunity to build momentum midseason. Fans attending the game can expect free parking and are encouraged to wear red for the “Red Out” promotion. The first 150 attendees will receive a complimentary t-shirt.
Utah enters the contest with a record of 13-8 and has been strong at home this season, boasting a 7-1 record at their new ballpark. Their recent victory over Cincinnati was highlighted by a late rally, with Bradley Navarro tying the game with a two-out double before Matt Flaharty drove in the winning runs. Cameron Gurney contributed significantly with a three-run homer and four RBIs, while pitchers Ian Lenius and Kaden Soder closed out the win.
In previous matchups between these teams during the 2025 campaign, Utah and BYU split their season series evenly, each taking two games apiece. Gurney has been one of Utah’s top performers this year, leading his team in RBIs (26), batting average (.367), and on-base percentage (.485). He recently surpassed the milestone of 100 career hits at Utah.
Jake Long is currently riding a team-best 16-game hitting streak—tied for Utah’s longest since 2019—with Gurney close behind at fourteen games. Long holds second place on the team in batting average (.366), RBIs (24), and on-base percentage (.438).
After facing BYU, Utah will prepare for another home series against Kansas State.
