The Utah Utes men’s tennis team will travel to Tempe to play against the #26 ranked Arizona State Sundevils on Saturday, March 26. The match is scheduled for 6 p.m. Mountain Time at the Whiteman Tennis Center.
This matchup comes as Utah holds a record of 4-12 overall and 0-3 in Big 12 conference play, while Arizona State stands at 13-7 overall and has yet to win a conference match this season. The Sundevils are coming off a previous season where they finished with a balanced record of 12-12 and went 3-5 in conference matches. Senior Roi Ginat returns for ASU after posting a singles record of 10-5 last year.
Utah’s roster features returning seniors Max Relic and Dante Teramo, along with junior Emmett Potter and sophomore Charles Frey. The team also welcomes five newcomers: transfers Lorenzo Esquici and Simeon Terziev, plus freshmen AJ Deem, Oliver Mesicek, and Balthazar Huss. Sophomore transfer Simeon Terziev has made an immediate impact this season with a strong singles record of 7-2, remaining undefeated when playing in the No. 5 spot.
In their most recent outing, the Utes fell to #12 ranked UCF Knights by a score of 4-0. The Knights secured both doubles points and all remaining singles matches.
Head coach Roeland Brateanu is leading Utah for his twelfth season. Brateanu previously guided the team to its first Pac-12 Regular Season Title during the historic 2022–2023 campaign, as well as an undefeated regular season (18–0) in the prior year that concluded with a No.50 national ranking according to Oracle/ITA rankings. His current overall coaching record at Utah stands at 187 wins and 118 losses.
Following their trip to Tempe, Utah will return home to face #66 Texas Tech on Sunday, March 29 before traveling again for another challenging matchup against #8 Baylor on April 2.
