The Utah Utes baseball team will host Kansas State for a three-game series beginning March 27 at America First Ballpark in Salt Lake City.
This matchup brings together two teams with identical Big 12 records, each standing at 3-3 in conference play. The games are scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. Mountain Time.
Utah has started strong in its new ballpark, going 7-2 and sweeping Grand Canyon University in their opening home series. The Utes also secured a series win against Arizona to open Big 12 play, with both teams scoring exactly 21 runs over the three games. In their most recent game, Utah narrowly lost to BYU, despite Jake Long’s ninth-inning two-run homer that extended his hitting streak to a team-best seventeen games—the longest for a Utah player since 2019. Cameron Gurney follows closely with a fifteen-game streak and leads the team in batting average (.381), on-base percentage (.490), and slugging percentage (.571). Gurney recently surpassed one hundred career hits during a game against Washington State on March 17.
Last weekend saw the Utes rally past Cincinnati with a late comeback victory, powered by fourteen hits including seven doubles—a season high—and contributions from players like Bradley Navarro and Matt Flaharty. Relief pitchers Ian Lenius and Kaden Soder closed out the win after Cincinnati had taken an eighth-inning lead.
Fans attending this weekend’s games can enjoy several special events: free parking is available in designated lots, public transit is free with a valid ticket, and Friday marks MUSS Appreciation Night for University of Utah students. Saturday features a Community Service Drive supporting local charities through donations of food and clothing. On Sunday, children can run the bases after the game.
Following this home stand against Kansas State, Utah will travel to Orem for an away game versus Utah Valley on Tuesday.
