The University of Utah softball team will begin a homestand with a three-game series against the Brigham Young University Cougars at Dumke Family Softball Stadium in Salt Lake City, starting Thursday, April 23. The games are scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

This series marks an important part of the regular season as the Utes look to build momentum before postseason play. Fans can watch every game live on ESPN+, and several promotions are planned, including a Red Out theme all weekend and Bark in the Park Day on Saturday, where dogs are welcome in certain areas of the stadium.

Utah enters the matchup following strong individual performances. Payton Crank was recently named Big 12 Freshman of the Week after batting .500 last week with two home runs and eight runs batted in. Pitchers Anna Reimers and Raci Miranda combined for an effective outing against Baylor that resulted in an 8-2 win, while Hailey Maestretti continues to be a consistent presence with her eleventh complete game of the season coming against Baylor.

The Utes have shown success both offensively and defensively this year. They have recorded 14 shutouts—tied for most in their conference—and rank among national leaders in earned run average (ERA) and walks drawn by batters. Mia Gomez has set a new program record for consecutive games reaching base safely as a freshman with a streak that extended to 36 games.

BYU comes into the series having scored heavily over recent games, totaling 76 runs across their last eight contests. Their lineup features six players who have hit five or more home runs this season.

The outcome of this rivalry series could impact standings as both teams look to close out their regular seasons strongly.
