The University of Utah softball team will host the No. 1 ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders for a three-game series at Dumke Family Softball Stadium in Salt Lake City, beginning Friday, April 10. The matchups are scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m., Saturday at noon, and Sunday at 11 a.m.

This marks Utah’s first series against the nation’s top-ranked team since facing Washington in 2018. The Utes last played a No. 1 ranked opponent when they met Oklahoma in February of 2022. Their most recent series win over a top-ranked team was in 2017 against Arizona.

Game day promotions will include a ‘Dark Mode’ theme on Friday with free shirts for the first fans, MUSS Appreciation Day on Saturday featuring ceremonial first pitches by student leaders, and an Easter Egg Hunt for children after Sunday’s game. Fans can watch all games live on ESPN+.

Utah enters the weekend following a decisive win over Weber State, where they recorded their twelfth shutout of the season and scored double digits for the ninth time this year—both feats not seen since previous decades. Key contributors included Mia Gomez, Kennedy Proctor, Cian Noli, and Payton Crank with home runs; Shelbee Jones earned her tenth pitching victory while Raci Miranda closed out the game without allowing any baserunners.

Texas Tech arrives with a strong record (38-2 overall; 14-1 Big 12), bolstered by standout performances from former UCLA All-American Kaitlyn Terry and pitcher Nijaree Canady. Terry leads several offensive categories in conference play and maintains an undefeated pitching record this season.

Statistically, Utah is tied for sixth nationally in shutouts and holds strong rankings within both national and Big 12 categories across batting average, walks drawn, double plays turned, as well as individual player achievements from Gomez, Jones, Maestretti, Miranda and Proctor.

The upcoming series presents an opportunity for Utah to test itself against elite competition while continuing to build on its recent successes.
