The University of Utah softball team secured its seventh consecutive victory with a 7-0 win over Utah Valley University on Sunday at Karl Brooks Field in St. George, Utah. The Utes improved their season record to 17-5, marking their best start since the 2022 season.

Danika Wilson played a key role in the win, hitting two home runs and collecting four RBIs. Kennedy Proctor contributed early with a two-run homer in the first inning. Wilson followed with her first home run of the game after a walk and an error put two runners on base, giving Utah a five-run lead.

Wilson hit her second home run in the third inning, sending the ball off the scoreboard in right field. The Utes added their final run in the seventh inning when Taylor Jacobs tripled for the first time in her career and was driven in by Hailee White’s RBI single.

Pitcher Hailey Maestretti delivered her second straight shutout and did not allow an earned run for her third consecutive start. She allowed four hits, struck out three batters, and did not issue any walks over seven innings. Maestretti’s performance raised her record to 6-1 with a 1.51 ERA.

Maestretti has not given up an earned run in 19 1/3 innings across four appearances in St. George, going 2-0 with one save during that stretch.

Utah’s pitching staff has now recorded four consecutive shutouts, its longest streak since posting five straight shutouts during the 2017 season.

The Utes will return home to play Southern Utah at Dumke Family Softball Stadium on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
