The University of Utah softball team defeated the Weber State Wildcats 17-0 on Apr. 7 at Wildcat Field in Ogden, Utah. Cian Noli and Payton Crank each hit home runs and set new career highs with five runs batted in (RBIs) apiece.

This win brings Utah’s record for the 2026 season to 26-13-1. The victory also marks the team’s twelfth shutout of the year, their most in a single season since recording seventeen shutouts in 2017.

“I couldn’t be happier with the game today,” said coach Amy Hogue. “Hitting, pitching and defense were all spot on. Being prepared is only part of what needs to happen and today we were prepared and we performed. [Kennedy] Proctor has been looking better and we moved her up and she had a big day, as did our freshmen with the homers and the career highs in RBIs for two of them. Big team win today.”

Noli began Utah’s scoring with a three-run homer in the first inning, followed by an RBI single from Hailee White in the second inning that increased their lead to four runs. In the third inning, Crank hit a grand slam after an error allowed another run to score, pushing Utah further ahead. Mia Gomez contributed two more runs later that inning with her ninth home run of the season.

In later innings, Noli added a two-run double while Sianni Sakai delivered an RBI single. Kennedy Proctor also hit a home run before Crank finished off her five-RBI performance with another two-run hit.

Pitchers Shelbee Jones and Raci Miranda combined to hold Weber State scoreless over five innings; Jones struck out five batters over three innings for her tenth win this year while Miranda retired all six batters she faced.

Looking ahead, Utah will host No. 1 Texas Tech Red Raiders for a three-game series beginning Friday.
