The Utah Utes men’s tennis team is scheduled to play two home matches at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center in Salt Lake City, facing the Idaho Vandals on Friday, April 10 and Big 12 rival BYU on Saturday, April 11.
These matches are important as Utah looks to improve its current season record of 5-15 overall and 1-6 in conference play. The games also provide an opportunity for fans to see both returning players and new additions compete before the team heads into postseason tournament play.
Idaho enters Friday’s match with a season record of 7-13. The Vandals return senior Chetanna Amadike, who finished last season with a singles record of 12-9 and an 11-6 mark in doubles. On Saturday, Utah will meet BYU (13-7 overall, 1-5 Big 12), which returns senior Redd Owen after he posted a singles record of 7-11 last year.
Utah’s roster features seniors Max Relic and Dante Teramo, junior Emmett Potter, sophomore Charles Frey, as well as five newcomers including transfers Lorenzo Esquici and Simeon Terziev. Terziev has made an immediate impact this season with a strong singles record of 7-3 across multiple lineup positions.
In their most recent outing, the Utes lost to No.5 TCU by a score of 4-0 in Fort Worth, Texas. Head coach Roeland Brateanu is now leading the program for his twelfth season; he previously guided Utah to its first Pac-12 Regular Season Title during the historic 2022–2023 campaign and holds an overall coaching record of 188 wins and 120 losses at Utah.
After this weekend’s matches against Idaho and BYU, Utah will travel to Orlando for the start of the Big 12 tournament on April 16.
