The University of Utah men’s tennis team lost to the fifth-ranked Texas Christian University Horned Frogs by a score of 4-0 on April 4 in Fort Worth, Texas.
This match was important for Utah as it faced one of the top teams in college tennis, testing its lineup against nationally ranked players. The loss leaves Utah with a season record of 5-15.
TCU started strong by winning the doubles point after securing victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. The match at No. 1 doubles between Balthazar Huss and Dante Teramo from Utah and Zsombor Velcz and Calvin Baierl from TCU was left unfinished at a score of 4-4.
In singles play, Utah’s Simeon Terziev had to retire his match against Oliver Bonding due to injury at the No. 3 spot. TCU also claimed wins at both the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions, which secured their overall victory before all matches were completed.
Utah will next return home to play against the University of Idaho on Friday, April 10th at George S. Eccles Tennis Center, followed by a matchup with Big 12 rival Brigham Young University on Saturday, April 11th.
