The University of Utah men’s tennis team lost 4-0 to the University of Arizona Wildcats on March 14 at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center in Salt Lake City. The defeat leaves the Utes with a record of 4-11 overall and 0-2 in Big 12 conference play.

This match was important for both teams as it marked another contest in their conference schedule, impacting their standings and momentum moving forward.

In doubles play, Arizona secured the opening point by winning matches at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Utah’s Emmett Potter and Simeon Terziev managed a win at No. 2 doubles, but losses at the other two spots gave Arizona an early advantage heading into singles competition.

During singles action, Arizona clinched the match by winning three straight contests on courts five, four, and six. Several matches were left unfinished after Arizona secured victory: Dante Teramo was leading his second set on court one after dropping the first; Emmett Potter was tied in his second set following a close tiebreak loss; and Simeon Terziev had split sets before play stopped.

Looking ahead, Utah will travel to Florida to face UCF on March 21 before playing Arizona State on March 26. The team will return home to host Texas Tech on March 29.
