This win is significant as it gives the Utah team momentum heading into upcoming matches against highly ranked opponents. Securing a victory over Texas Tech could help boost confidence for the remainder of their season.
In doubles, Utah clinched the point after Dante Teramo and Balthazar Huss won at the No. 1 spot in a tiebreak, while AJ Deem and Lorenzo Esquici secured another close tiebreak win at No. 3 doubles. Singles play saw Texas Tech take early leads by winning at No. 5 and No. 3 spots, but Charles Frey tied things up for Utah with his straight-set win at No. 6 singles.
Teramo then gave Utah an edge by defeating Niska Arsic at the top singles position, followed by Emmett Potter’s match-clinching victory over Tyler Stewart at No. 2 singles. The match between Esquici and Felipe Pagnacco was left unfinished after splitting sets.
Looking ahead, Utah will travel to face Baylor on April 2 and TCU on April 4 before returning home for senior weekend matches against Idaho on April 10 and BYU on April 11.
