Two Utah lacrosse players received Atlantic Sun Conference weekly awards following the team’s 16-7 victory against Marquette, according to a March 16 announcement from the league office.
The recognition highlights Utah’s continued strong performance this season. The team has now swept the ASUN weekly honors for the third consecutive week and fourth time overall in 2026.
Luke McNamara was named ASUN Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. He led Utah with five goals against Marquette, bringing his season total to 30—the first Division I player to reach that mark this year. McNamara currently leads the nation in goals, ranks second in goals per game at 4.29, and is nineteenth in points per game with an average of 4.57.
Nikko DiPonio earned Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in 2026 and third week in a row. DiPonio collected a team-high ten ground balls during the Marquette game and helped limit their opponent to seven goals, tying for their fewest scores this season. He leads the conference with twenty caused turnovers and averages 2.86 caused turnovers per game while ranking third with forty-two ground balls. This is DiPonio’s sixth career weekly award, making him the most decorated Utah Ute in program history.
Looking ahead, McNamara, DiPonio, and their teammates will travel to Charlottesville for a matchup against Virginia on Saturday, March 21 at 9 a.m., which will be broadcast live on ACCNX.
