Utah Golf finished the first round of The Goodwin in ninth place with a team score of 1-under 279, according to a March 26 update from the program. Junior Sergio Jimenez and senior Davis Johnson led the team’s effort on day one at Stanford Golf Course.
The performance places Utah ten strokes behind Stanford, which leads the field with an 11-under score through eighteen holes. Long Beach and New Mexico follow in second and third place, respectively.
Jimenez posted a 2-under-par round of 68, tying for eighteenth individually. Johnson finished close behind with a score of 69, placing him in a tie for twenty-seventh. Juniors Jack Jerge and Brandon Robison each shot rounds of 71 to tie for fifty-seventh after day one.
The Goodwin tournament spans three days from March 26 to March 28 at Stanford Golf Course in California. Teams will play three rounds totaling fifty-four holes over the event’s duration.
