The Utah track and field team repeated as All-Americans in the distance medley relay (DMR) at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 13, finishing seventh overall at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
This achievement highlights the team’s continued success at a national level. The DMR squad—composed of Bri Rinn, Emily Martin, Kyla Martin, and Erin Vringer—finished with a combined time of 10:52.58. This performance would have been the second-fastest in program history if not for their own faster mark set last year.
Bri Rinn also competed in the mile semifinals, running a time of 4:37.82. Although she narrowly missed qualifying for the finals, her result was the fastest by a Utah athlete in that event at the NCAA Indoor Championships. In addition, sophomore Chelsea Amoah made history by becoming Utah’s first sprinter to compete at the indoor championships, placing third in her heat and thirteenth overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.08.
The championships will continue with Erin Vringer representing Utah in the 3000-meter finals on Saturday, March 14. Fans can follow updates on www.UtahUtes.com or through social media channels.
The repeat All-American honor for Utah’s DMR team underscores their consistency and competitiveness on a national stage.
