The Utah baseball team will travel to Orem to play against Utah Valley in a non-conference game at UCCU Ballpark on March 31. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Mountain Time, with the start time moved up due to anticipated weather conditions.
This matchup follows Utah’s recent Big 12 series win over Kansas State at America First Ballpark, where the Utes secured victories on Saturday and Sunday after losing the opener. Both wins featured eighth-inning comebacks, with Utah scoring a combined total of 11 runs in those frames.
Left fielder Jake Long made history during Sunday’s game by hitting for the cycle, becoming only the third player in recorded program history to do so and the first since 2005. Long went five-for-six at bat, hit two home runs, drove in four runs, and scored three times. He currently holds a 20-game hitting streak—the longest for a Utah player since 2011—and ranks among the top eight hitters in batting average within the Big 12 Conference alongside teammate Cameron Gurney.
Last season, Utah swept its home-and-home series against Utah Valley with wins of 13-5 and 8-2. The teams are set for another rematch later this season at America First Ballpark on April 22. The Utes have started strong at their new home field this year with a record of nine wins and three losses, including a sweep of Grand Canyon University.
After facing Utah Valley, Utah will return to conference play with an upcoming series against Kansas beginning Thursday at Hoglund Ballpark.
