Utah Baseball will travel to Cincinnati for a three-game series beginning March 20 as part of its Big 12 Conference schedule. The games are set to take place at UC Baseball Stadium, with matchups scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The series comes after Utah completed an eight-game homestand at the newly opened Charlie Monfort Field at America First Ballpark. During this stretch, Utah won eight of its last nine games, including a sweep of Grand Canyon University and a series victory over Arizona Wildcats. Both teams scored exactly 21 runs across the three games against Arizona, with two of those contests going into extra innings.
Utah wrapped up its homestand with an 8-5 win over Washington State. Demitri Diamant earned his first collegiate win during that game, while David Galindo recorded his first save for the team. Jake Long enters the Cincinnati series on a team-best 13-game hitting streak, followed by Cameron Gurney with an 11-game streak and Daniel Arambula with ten.
In the recent Arizona series, Utah secured a walk-off victory in the rubber game thanks to Jet Gilliam’s two-run single in the bottom of the tenth inning. Gurney has been leading Utah’s offense this season with a .371 batting average, .500 on-base percentage, and a team-high 19 RBIs. He also reached his career milestone of over 100 hits during Tuesday’s game against Washington State.
The upcoming games against Cincinnati mark another test for Utah as it continues conference play.
