Tyler Clancy, a Utah state legislator, used his social media platform in February 2026 to comment on recent legislative developments and criminal justice issues.
On February 12, Clancy expressed criticism of an unspecified administrative decision by posting: “Big loss for the admin & for the country”.
Two days later, on February 14, he addressed harm reduction policies related to drug use. In his post, Clancy stated: “It’s absolutely unacceptable to give out meth/crack pipes in the height of our current drug crisis. HB 205 – among other measures, prohibits the distribution of drug supplies like these under the banner of ‘harm reduction’ This legislation passed off the House floor 71-1”. HB 205 refers to a bill recently passed in Utah’s House of Representatives that seeks to restrict certain harm reduction strategies during a period described as a “current drug crisis.”
Later that day, Clancy shared his experience meeting with Darcie Housley regarding her son’s unsolved homicide case. He wrote: “It was a solemn honor to meet & speak with Darcie Housley about her son, Brian who was shot & killed in a drive by shooting in 2017. HB 137 will give more resources to help solve cold cases & violent crime. I was honored to have her support.” HB 137 is proposed legislation aimed at increasing resources dedicated to addressing cold cases and violent crimes.
Both bills mentioned by Clancy—HB 205 and HB 137—are part of ongoing legislative efforts within Utah’s government addressing public health and safety concerns.
