Trevor Lee, a political figure in Utah, used his social media account to criticize Democratic policies and defend recent legislative actions taken by Republicans in the state. In a series of posts made between February 10 and February 11, 2026, Lee commented on party-line divides regarding local bills and national issues.
On February 10, Lee wrote: “This is what happens when democrat polices run a state…. Every democrat in Utah opposed bills we passed to prevent this madness.” He did not specify which policies or outcomes he was referring to in the post.
Later that day, Lee addressed abortion policy in Utah. He stated: “Abortion is murder. Another policy democrats push that we have stopped in Utah Until a radical judge says otherwise.”
On February 11, Lee posted about his perceived responsibilities as an elected official and criticized the NAACP. He wrote: “Very simply .. It is my fiscal, moral and rational responsibility to act in the best interests of my constituents. (Americans) The NAACP doesn’t believe in sovereign nations nor the rule of law.”
Lee’s comments reflect ongoing partisan tensions over legislative priorities within Utah. The Republican Party holds a supermajority in both chambers of the Utah State Legislature, allowing them to advance conservative policies with limited opposition from Democrats. Recent years have seen intense debate over topics such as abortion access and state sovereignty.
The NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) has been active nationally advocating for civil rights and against discriminatory practices; it often takes positions at odds with more conservative lawmakers on issues like voting rights and immigration.
