U.S. Senator John Curtis announced on Mar. 23 that Jenney Rees will serve as his new State Director, succeeding Lorie Fowlke in the role. Rees previously worked as Deputy State Director and Senior Adviser in Curtis’s office and brings experience from both government and the private sector.

The appointment is significant because the State Director leads statewide strategy, operations, external engagement, and constituent services for the senator’s office across Utah. This position plays a key role in ensuring local engagement and responsiveness to community needs.

Curtis said, “Through her extensive professional background, Jenney brings both enterprise-level expertise and a boots-on-the-ground understanding of the unique needs and pressing challenges of our state.” He added gratitude for Fowlke’s eight years of service: “Her vision, grit, and determination have made our office one of the most responsive and effective constituent service operations in Congress. She will remain a critical member of my team as she assumes the role of Legal Counsel and Senior Advisor.”

Rees said she looks forward to building on strong relationships across Utah: “I’m grateful for the opportunity to step into this role and build on strong relationships across the state. I look forward to working with Senator Curtis and our team to continue addressing the issues that matter most to Utah communities and delivering exceptional constituent service.”

Before joining Curtis’s staff, Rees served as Executive Director of Government Operations under Governor Spencer J. Cox. Her public service includes time as Mayor of Cedar Hills, six years on its City Council, executive roles at RevRoad—a business accelerator—and leadership positions in healthcare technology startups.

Curtis represents Utah in the Senate after serving two terms as mayor of Provo according to his official website. He has founded the Conservative Climate Caucus according to his official website—an initiative focused on sustainable practices—and serves on multiple committees with an emphasis on small business support according to his official website. The senator is recognized among effective Republican members of Congress according to his official website.

Looking ahead, Rees’s leadership is expected to further strengthen outreach efforts throughout Utah while continuing priorities such as public land management legislation—a focus area for Curtis—alongside ongoing work supporting families; he raises six children and 17 grandchildren according to his official website.
