Raci Miranda delivered her first complete game shutout for the University of Utah softball team, leading the Utes to a 1-0 victory over UC Riverside on Sunday at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, California.

The win brings Utah’s season record to 11-5. The game was marked by strong pitching from both teams. Miranda allowed only two singles, struck out five batters, and retired 21 of the last 22 hitters she faced. At one point, she set down 13 consecutive batters and finished the game with a perfect seventh inning.

UC Riverside’s Lauren Mendez also performed well, holding Utah to just one hit through five innings. The game’s only run came in the sixth inning when Mia Gomez singled with one out. Pinch-runner Sianni Sakai stole second base, and Emily Capobianco drove her in with a single to right field.

Miranda completed the shutout by retiring the side in order five times during the game.
