Matt MacPherson, a public commentator and candidate in Utah politics, shared several posts on social media in early December 2025 regarding local arts funding and a recent judicial ruling.

On December 5, 2025, MacPherson discussed his attendance at the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts program at Neil Armstrong. He wrote, “I was invited to attend the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts program at Neil Armstrong by their lobbyists. It was a cute program with cute kids, I loved having my kids involved in similar programs when they were younger. However, this program is funded primarily by the state https://t.co/K3VafYcgKR”.

The following day, December 6, 2025, MacPherson turned his attention to legal matters involving Judge Gibson. In one post he stated, “Let’s walk through Judge (Queen?) Gibson’s ruling and why this explanation from Lindsay is wrong. 1/8 https://t.co/IAwQog9n0L”. In another post made moments later, he continued: “This is intentionally misleading by Queen Gibson. The legislature does not have the right to appeal based on merit until final judgement. We can file an interlocutory appeal but this is a request the court could deny and has denied previously. The court cannot deny an appeal https://t.co/8WuUNwyK6E”.

The Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program is a statewide initiative in Utah that supports arts education for elementary students through state funding and partnerships with schools and communities.

MacPherson’s comments reflect ongoing discussions about public funding for educational programs as well as debate over judicial processes within Utah’s legislative system.
