Senior Kathryn Grant competed for the second consecutive day at the NCAA Division I Women’s National Championships on March 20 inside the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
Grant’s participation highlights her achievement as one of only 16 women nationwide to qualify for all three diving events at the championships. This distinction underscores both her skill and dedication throughout her collegiate career.
Head diving coach Richard Marschner said, “Kathryn is one of the toughest competitors I’ve ever coached and she proved that again today. She takes a lot of pride in being one of only 16 women in the country to qualify on all three events and she has embraced that mental and physical challenge wholeheartedly throughout her career.”
After finishing 32nd on the 1-meter springboard, Grant placed 45th in Friday’s 3-meter competition with a total score of 238.65. Her top performance came during the sixth round, where she scored 55.50 points on a forward two-and-a-half somersault with one twist pike dive. Marschner added, “Too often people look for the easy way out or make excuses and Kat has never done that. She finished her 3m career with a great full out and is one of the best all-around divers in the country.”
This event marked Grant’s second appearance in the NCAA Championships’ 3-meter competition; she previously competed in this event during the 2024 season, placing 46th.
Grant will conclude her collegiate diving career with the platform event scheduled for Saturday, March 21, with preliminaries beginning at 10:15 a.m.
