Johs Braathen Herland achieved a third-place finish in the men’s giant slalom race for the Utah Ski Team on Monday at the Spencer F. Eccles Olympic Mountain Center, located at Utah Olympic Park in Park City. This marks Herland’s second consecutive day on the podium and his ninth top-three result of the season.

In the women’s event, Kaila Lafreniere recorded her best performance of the season with a sixth-place finish, clocking a time of 2:10.21. This is her third top-10 result this year and follows an eighth-place finish in yesterday’s giant slalom.

Other notable results for Utah included Maisie Blyth tying for 11th place with a time of 2:10.91, and Maddie Kaiserman achieving a career-best by finishing 14th at 2:11.13. Christina Jacobsen rounded out Utah’s women’s lineup in 26th place.

On the men’s side, Sindre Myklebust finished fifth with a time of 2:08.02, while Harry Hoffman placed 15th.

Although Utah hosted Monday’s races, they were RMISA Qualifiers and did not count toward team scores in the ongoing Utah Invitational.

The competition will continue Tuesday with slalom races to conclude the Utah Invitational. The first run has been rescheduled to start at 8 a.m., anticipating changes in weather conditions.
