Senior Kathryn Grant and sophomore Callie Eaglestone will represent the University of Utah at the NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Atlanta this week, according to a March 17 announcement from the university.
The event, held at the McAuley Aquatic Center from March 18 to 21, will see Grant compete in all three diving events while Eaglestone will participate on the 1-meter springboard. The championships can be watched on ESPN+ with live results available online.
Both athletes have had strong seasons leading up to nationals. At last week’s Big 12 Championships, Utah divers earned seven conference medals. Grant and Eaglestone, along with Enilia Nilsson Garip, won gold in the team event. Individually, Grant placed third on the 1-meter board with a score of 301.20 while Eaglestone finished fourth with a total of 297.75. Eaglestone also secured bronze on the 3-meter board and placed fifth on platform.
At the NCAA Zone E Championships, Eaglestone made history by becoming the first Utah woman ever to win at Zones and the first Utah champion since 2016 after claiming victory on the 1-meter board. Grant finished fourth in that event, as well as tenth on the 3-meter and sixth on platform.
Utah’s diving program has received recognition throughout the season with a total of ten Big 12 Conference weekly awards awarded to its athletes. Since joining the Big 12 prior to last season, Utah has claimed twenty weekly awards overall—thirteen coming from divers—with Elias Petersen leading all Utes with five Diver of the Week honors.
Looking ahead, Utah’s men’s swimming and diving program is set to compete at their own NCAA National Championships from March 25-28 in Atlanta.
