Utah women’s soccer head coach Hideki Nakada announced on Mar. 20 the addition of Emma Greenwood to the coaching staff as an assistant coach.

The appointment is seen as a significant development for the program, with Greenwood bringing experience from both collegiate and club soccer environments. Nakada said, “I am delighted to welcome Emma Greenwood to our coaching staff. Adding Emma is a significant step forward for our program and I have no doubt she will make an immediate and lasting impact. She is an outstanding coach with a strong passion for developing student-athletes, both on and off the field. She has done a great job in both club and collegiate environments and she will challenge our players to reach the next level. I’m extremely excited about what this addition means for our program moving forward.”

Greenwood comes to Utah after serving as an assistant coach at Cal Poly Pomona during the 2025 season, where she helped guide the Broncos to an 18-3-3 record, conference regular season and West Region Championships, and a Final Four appearance. The team also produced three All-Americans and nine academic all-district honorees under her tenure.

Her previous roles include four years with Legends FC – San Diego as ECNL Director, Head Coach, and Administrative Lead, where she led recruitment efforts, oversaw program development, implemented training periodization, and managed camps throughout the year. In 2024, she was selected for the West Region ODP staff to support talent identification across the region. Greenwood’s background also includes coaching at San Diego Surf Soccer Club (2020–2021) and Palomar College (2021).

Originally from England, Greenwood was recognized in 2016 as USYS Region III Coach of the Year and Alabama Soccer Association Coach of the Year for her work in youth soccer development. She played collegiate soccer at University of Montevallo from 2011–2015 before earning her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology.

Greenwood holds a USSF “A” License and a US Youth National License.
