Cheryl K. Acton, a Utah state legislator, posted several reflections on social and policy issues to her X account on December 4, 2025.
In one post, Acton addressed the impact of drug use and related policy goals: “60 lives saved, more than 60 families spared funerals and grief. Drugs have changed our national demographics and our state. Having a serious goal to reduce drug use will increase human potential and human happiness and save lives.” (December 4, 2025).
Later that day, Acton commented on philanthropic giving models connected to “Trump accounts for newborns”: “Interesting! I didn’t know the idea of Trump accounts for newborns was quite so revolutionary. It makes sense that philanthropists wld like to give money away w/o worrying about the details of eligibility and distribution. Removing obstacles – that’s what govt shld be about.” (December 4, 2025).
In another message reflecting on education and teachers’ influence, she wrote: “If you’re lucky, you had a handful of teachers whose names you remember. In their presence, you sensed that you were growing, that learning was invigorating, and that knowledge was exponential. Recognition and gratitude are wonderful and important.” (December 4, 2025).
Acton’s posts come amid ongoing public discussions in Utah regarding drug prevention efforts as well as debates over educational standards in the state legislature.
