Cheryl K. Acton, a member of the Utah House of Representatives, shared her views on social and political issues in a series of posts on her Twitter account between May 8 and May 10, 2026.

On May 8, Acton commented on the perception of intellectualism, stating “This is true. ‘Intellectual’ should describe a positive personality trait (one who enjoys reading and thinking), but it has become a pejorative b/c many very smart, well educated ppl mistakenly believe regular ppl, not intellectually inclined, are somehow inferior and cannot lead”.

In another post dated May 10, she addressed the concept of “nepo-baby communists,” writing “I hadn’t thought of this phrase, nepo-baby communists, but it fits. It applies to mayors of NYC and Seattle.”

Later that same day, Acton posted about recent political developments with the statement “Democrats did not lose democracy. They just lost control.”

Cheryl K. Acton’s comments come amid ongoing debates about elitism in American society and discussions regarding political leadership in major cities such as New York City and Seattle. The term “nepo baby” refers to individuals perceived as having benefited from family connections or privilege in their rise to prominence—a topic that has generated significant attention across media platforms.
