Cheryl K. Acton, a member of the Utah House of Representatives, shared personal anecdotes and reflections in a series of tweets posted on January 12, 2026.
In her first post, Acton recounted an encounter with Grandpa Beck and his wife during a trip: “My true story: I actually met Grandpa Beck and his lovely wife while hot tubbing at a Marriott hotel in Montana. They were heading to a family reunion in Utah. We were heading to Banff. Wonderful people! This story doesn’t surprise me (but otoh it does!)” (January 12, 2026).
Later that morning, Acton emphasized the value of charity as a personal attribute by quoting scripture: “As an attribute, Charity is worth cultivating, bc it’s a force multiplier that ‘never faileth’ (1 Cor. 13:8)” (January 12, 2026).
In another tweet posted later the same day, Acton expressed admiration for artist Maynard Dixon and encouraged visits to sites associated with him: “I LOVE so many of Maynard Dixon’s paintings! If you are ever on the eastern end of Zion NP, go visit the cabin, studio, and bunkhouse he and his wife built near Orderville, where they hosted other artists like Ansel Adams and Arthur Miller.” (January 12, 2026).
Acton’s comments reflect her background as an elected official representing Utah’s District 38 since her appointment in August 2017. She has been active in community engagement through both legislative work and public communication channels.
Maynard Dixon was a prominent American artist known for his depictions of the American West. His connection to Zion National Park includes time spent at his cabin near Orderville with fellow artists such as Ansel Adams. The region remains significant for art history enthusiasts.
