Cheryl K. Acton, a member of the Utah House of Representatives for District 38, announced on her social media that she will not seek re-election and is entering her final legislative session. In a post dated January 19, 2026, Acton addressed her constituents and shared plans for the remainder of her term.
In her message posted on January 19, 2026, Acton wrote: “Dear Utah House District 38, Friends, and Family – Tomorrow I will begin my ninth and final General Session, since I am not running for re-election. My current term ends later this year. Until then, I will continue to represent our district with enthusiasm and gratitude.”
Earlier in the week on January 18, 2026, Acton commented positively on another online post: “Such a great post.”
On January 21, 2026, she reflected on generational issues related to emotional manipulation in children and referenced economist Thomas Sowell: “This is an interesting perspective. Emotional manipulation has affected at least one generation of children who are now riddled with anxiety as adults. (I don’t think of Thomas Sowell as a right-winger but as a thinker and communicator.)”
Acton’s announcement marks the end of nearly a decade representing Utah’s House District 38. During her tenure in the Utah Legislature—an institution responsible for creating state laws—she participated in multiple general sessions serving constituents from her district.
