Avery Neff was named the Big 12 Gymnast of the Week for the seventh time this season, Utah announced on March 17. This recognition marks the final weekly honor of the regular season and brings Utah’s total to 14 Big 12 awards for the year.
Neff earned this latest accolade after her performance against No. 5 UCLA, where she scored a 39.675 in the all-around competition. She competed closely with Olympian Jordan Chiles during the meet.
Her all-around score was just .025 points shy of her career best. In addition, Neff posted a 9.975 on bars in the first rotation at Pauley Pavilion, tying for the highest individual event score of the day after one judge awarded her a perfect 10.
Neff continued with strong performances throughout the meet, scoring a 9.925 on vault, a 9.875 on floor, and finishing with a 9.90 on beam. As a sophomore from South Jordan, she is currently tied for fourth nationally in all-around rankings and holds top spots in several events within the Big 12 conference.
Looking ahead, Neff and her teammates will compete at the Maverik Center for the Big 12 Championships on Saturday, March 21 at 5 p.m., as Utah aims to defend its conference title.
