Utah Congressional Delegation Announces Passport Fairs in Coordination with State Department

Utahns in need of passport services can now rejoice as the Utah Congressional Delegation, in coordination with the Department of State, has announced five "Passport Fairs" throughout the state. This initiative aims to provide Utahns with the convenience of obtaining expedited passport services closer to home. The events will take place from February 13 to 17, and registration for appointments is now open.

"Utah is rapidly expanding as a center for global commerce and tourism, is home to thousands of Latter-day Saints who annually embark on worldwide religious missions, and has a fast-growing population. These factors have created a high demand for passport services in our state, but unfortunately, Utahns must travel long distances to reach the nearest passport office," said the delegation.

The five locations where the Passport Fairs will be held are Weber State University's Community Outreach Center in Ogden, Salt Lake Community College's Jordan Campus in West Jordan, Utah Valley University's Young Alumni Center in Orem, the Bennett Federal Building in Salt Lake City, and the Kiln Building in Lehi.

To apply for a passport or renew an existing one, applicants must bring a completed passport application form for each individual. Forms can be filled out and printed from the State Department's website. Additionally, evidence of U.S. citizenship, a recent passport photo, valid photo identification, a clear copy of the front and back of the ID, and payment of passport fees in the form of a check or money order are required.

For minors under 16, both the minor and a parent must appear in person, and parental consent is required. Minors aged 16 and 17 must also appear in person for the application process.

The Passport Fairs aim to address the growing demand for passport services in Utah and provide a more accessible solution for residents. While the long-term goal is to establish a passport agency in Salt Lake City, these fairs serve as a temporary measure to meet the immediate needs of Utahns.

Utahns looking to secure an appointment for the Passport Fairs can visit the respective locations' websites to schedule their slot. It is important to note that expedited processing will be available during these events.

With the convenience of having these passport services closer to home, Utahns can now save time and travel expenses when obtaining or renewing their passports. The Utah Congressional Delegation, in collaboration with the Department of State, is committed to ensuring that the needs of Utahns are met and that they have access to expedited passport services.

For more information and to schedule an appointment, visit the respective location's website listed above.
